Battleship Lake, Strathcona Park // Explore VanIsle
Strathcona Park is HUGE, and when I say huge I mean huge. The main entrance to the park is found on Mount Washington, located 50 min north of Parksville. There are so many beautiful hikes and trails throughout the park that you can explore. Some lakes have camping areas for people wishing to hike and explore the area for more then a day. We ended up just taking 40 min and doing the little hike to battle ship lake, however on another occasion I've spent a night at circlet lake, which is even more stunning.
It's a beautiful day trip to go on, whether with friends or with the family. There is a board walk the whole way along to battleship lake, including ramps if you have a stroller. The surrounding nature is mind blowing as you feel like you're completely in the mountains with no one around (even though you can be just 20 min away from the parking lot).
For creative people looking to take pictures, this scene is a MUST. The grounds, trees, rivers are out of this world and it's such a peaceful place to be in.
For those who are looking for a nice hike, whether a day trip or over night...THIS is probably one of my top suggestions. You get the full essence of being a part of nature with out going too far. The birds will eat from your hands and the wildlife will be around. *Do make sure you bring bear spray*
The map to the park is found ~ Here
If you go here, let me know about your adventures! I'm loving hearing from others about their explorations of the places I suggest.
