January
Hello Community,
It has been a wonderful, eventful, and restful month! Between finishing off with clients, going on Christmas break, enjoying Christmas festivities, driving to the coast and visiting with friends, I have felt so filled by this month.
After break began, my roommate and friends Austin, Marissa and their little girl Naira drove to the coast. It’s a 9-hour drive (or 13 hours with traffic) from Nairobi to the Indian Ocean. The drive is through some of Kenya's most beautiful landscapes (pictured below). Rolling hills, mountains and flat terrains with the occasional Zebra spotting. We stayed in a little Airbnb on the beach for six days in a town called Watamu (meaning We Are Sweet). We had time to read, lay in the sun and enjoy loads of gelato. My heart felt TRULY at peace.
Then, the rest of our break was spent at coffee shops reading, enjoying Christmas with friends, and soaking up the summer sun in Nairobi. I spent a few days seeing clients over break and a lot of time learning through audio books. As I head into this next year, I am excited. Right now, I am at 14 clients per week and have taken on some responsibilities coordinating a prayer team at church. As I sat in prayer the other day, I could sense the Lord’s excitement with me, this overflow of serving him and anticipation of what He will accomplish in and through me this year.
Praises
That I had a rest this Christmas
My brother got an extra week off work, which means he and my sister-in-law get to stay an extra week in January.
My client load continues to grow, and God is moving mightily through this ministry.
Through a few one-time donations and christmas gifts, my student debt is now down to $26,000!
Prayers
Please pray for my family as they visit this month. Pray over their bodies that they will be healthy and protected against parasites and malaria. That their flights will be on schedule and that the jetlag will not be too bad. Pray for good connections and time spent together. That they will enjoy Kenya and have all the energy to do the things i have planned for them.
Pray as I continue to grow in clients and tasks here in Kenya for wisdom, guidance, joy and an ability to be present through each day’s responsibilities.
Please pray for wisdom, particularly in how to incorporate faith into counselling sessions. This is something I am still learning about and how to do well.
Please continue to pray for donations towards my line of credit. As the official end of my schooling is coming soon, the interest rates will increase and this has left me feeling a bit more pressure to pay it off.
As always, thank you for reading and following along. Your support and prayers mean the world to me.
