{Thailand} Homeward Bound
Homeward bound today! This month has flown by. So many beautiful memories, funny moments, and most of all, so much growth. God has been so good as he has lead me to see and grow in understanding of what missions looks like oversees. I was reflecting back today to when I left on the trip, my prayer was that God would stretch me and show me more the heart He has for his people. And He has shown me that + so much more~
A few things I've come to see and know more deeply since being on this trip...
- As christians, we're all on a journey towards the cross of Christ and understanding it's power + purpose. Those who have sought God longer and diligently will have a better view of who He is. Their job (and all of our job) is to witness and share our view of Him, based on biblical truths and real life experiences of walking with Him (based on where we are at with Him). We're to turn to our fellow believers and SHARE THAT VIEW. That's our job. Not to say "Why are you farther back?" or "Why are you doing this". That's not what we're called to do, and it won't help anyone. We're to say "This who God is" and "This is what He has done and IS doing in my life". Jesus is irresistible and when we can openly share how we're experiencing Him from where we stand, that's when we can have an impact on others journey towards the cross. I look back to the times I've been most moved to change my relationship with Christ and it's been the times when I've heard others testimony of How good God is.
- Christianity is MESSY, community is messy. The sooner we can start to come to openly acknowledge and accept this, the more joyful living in community + ministry will become.
- Moving and becoming a missionary in a foreign country is really hard. As Karen says "The highs are really high, and the lows are very low". It's not always rewarding and there will be times when your flesh will make it hard to keep in view why you're here. However it's through seeking the heart of God and how He views his children that will refresh your soul to continue.
- I'm looking forward to see what God has in store for my next few years. He has continually confirmed in my heart that ministry oversees is something that I want to do. I'm still praying through how that looks practically, but all I know is that it'll be so good.
